SUMMARY

You are responsible for originating, structuring, and executing complex financing solutions that enable and optimize physical oil trading flows, supply chain transactions, investment projects, and risk management strategies.

The role acts as a bridge between:
Trading desks
Commercial and operations teams
Financial institutions (banks, funds, insurers)
Risk and compliance functions

Your objective is to ensure transactions are economically viable, capital-efficient, legally secure, and compliant.

THE ROLE

Deal Structuring & Execution
Structure prepayment facilities, borrowing base facilities, reserve-based lending (RBL), inventory financing, receivables financing, and other commodity-linked transactions.
Design financing solutions that optimize working capital for trading desks (crude, refined products, petroleum products).
Evaluate trade flows to determine optimal financial support mechanisms.
Prepare and negotiate term sheets, financing agreements, and security documentation.

Financial Analysis & Risk Assessment
Perform in-depth credit assessment of counterparties: producers, refiners, NOCs, traders, and logistics companies.
Build and review financial models, including cash flow projections, collateral valuation, and scenario stress testing.
Assess market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and geopolitical exposures in trade flows.
Ensure structured finance deals comply with internal risk policies.

Relationship Management
Coordinate with legal, treasury, trade finance, and operations to execute complex deals
Manage relationships with:
Banks & financial institutions
Producers (upstream companies)
Refiners & distributors
Trading desks

Monitoring & Portfolio Management
Track performance of financed transactions (inventory levels, sales proceeds, shipment schedules).
Monitor compliance with covenants, collateral coverage ratios, and credit limits.
Manage early-warning indicators for distressed or underperforming counterparties.
Support audits and reporting to senior management.

Market Intelligence
Advise traders on financing opportunities and constraints.
Stay updated on Crude & product price trends, Global credit appetite for commodity markets, Sanctions and regulatory changes and Geopolitical events affecting oil supply chains

 

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 10 years’ experience in Commodity Structured Finance, trade finance within a banking sector, oil/ commodity trading houses or investment banking / project finance from energy sector.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple complex deals under tight deadlines.
Strong understanding of legal and compliance frameworks (e.g., sanctions, KYC, AML, trade documentation).
Familiarity with storage, logistics, shipping terms (Incoterms), and physical trading.
Strong knowledge of commodity trade finance, especially in crude & refined products.
Advanced financial modeling (Excel), cash flow analysis, and risk metrics.
Experience with structured commodity products such as Pre-export financing (PXF/Prepay), Borrowing base facilities, Tolling structures, Offtake-backed financing, Inventory monetization
